In addition, for five
years Bill Ward has been the head coach of the
12-year-old NYO youth football teams. Most recently, he
coached the Big Packers to a 4-4 season this past fall.
Alan tested the coaching waters this year for the North
Atlanta High School swim team. He took on the
responsibility as a community high school coach for both
the boys and girls swim team. The team, still in its
infancy, never had an experienced, knowledgeable coach.
With Alan’s past experience as a colligate swimmer he
lead the “warriors” to a very successful season. The
boys broke every school record this season, and for the
first time in the school’s history scored points at the
state swim meet, where they placed 11th overall. With
such great improvement this past winter, Alan and the 45
boys and girls on the team are looking forward to a
promising next year.
Volunteering for youth
sports teams is just one of the ways JGRE gives back to
the community. Their involvement is not only personally
rewarding but it also creates even stronger
relationships with the local community.
